Literacy & Numeracy Training

FLI literacy programs are focused on providing customized and tailored literacy programs to public, private and non-governmental organizations and groups of learners in Pashto, Dari and English. FLI literacy programs directly respond to the learning needs of our clients and enable organizations to enhance their performance and productivity through capable staff. We have the teams and experience of providing large scale literacy and numeracy trainings to thousands of individuals in the public, private and non-governmental sector.

OUTLINE OF TRAINING:

Literacy and Numeracy Program

Our literacy and numeracy curriculum equips our trainers to use information from diagnostic assessment to identify learners’ skills, both those that they already have and those that they need, draw those elements from the curriculum into the learning plan and assessment regime and follow the progression through the standards and the curriculum elements to build a formative and summative assessment regime into the learning plan. Our curriculum and training provide a map of the range of skills and capabilities that people are expected to need in order to function and progress at work and in society:

  • Reading: “Functional literacy” is often defined as the ability to read at a particular grade level.
  • Writing: Written literacy might best be considered to be an individual’s capacity to write what she needs to in clear and reasonably accurate language.
  • Numeracy: or “mathematical literacy” usually refers to the ability to perform the basic mathematical operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and whatever else – normally needed in everyday life.
  • English: The teaching of basic English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to those for whom it is not the native language.
  • Cultural literacy: Familiarity with the background knowledge and cultural values associated with each language.
